The American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course makes learning fun and easy. Through classroom learning and hands-on practice, you’ll learn key skills:
- Surveillance skills to help you recognize and/or prevent injuries
- Rescue skills for use both in water and on land
- First aid and professional rescuer CPR training to help you prepare for an emergency
- Professional lifeguard responsibilities
Prerequisites:
- Minimum age 15 years
- Swim 300 yards continuously using these strokes in the following order:
- Front crawl using rhythmic breathing 100 yards
- Breaststroke 100 yards
- Either front crawl using rhythmic breathing or Stroke 100 yards
- Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke,surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10 pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and get out of the pool in a set time
