Dance
General Dance Program Guidelines
- All dance classes require a B.C.R.C. membership
- Renewal of membership will be retroactive to date of expiration if child is enrolled in a class
- Please be on time for class and no outside street shoes on the dance studio floor
- Please do not allow your child to bring gum or candy. The risk of choking is too great when children are dancing
Class Placement
- Students will be placed in the class that the instructor determines to be the best suited for the student.
- Dancing ability, students age and the number of years of previous dance experience are all considered for proper class placement.
- We will not place friends and family in the same class as a convenience, unless the students perform at the same level of proficiency.
- No Exceptions
Standard Dress Code
- Leotards, tights and dance skirts are preferable; however, students may wear close-fitting tank or t-shirts and shorts as approved by the instructor.
- During periods of colder weather, students may wear sweatpants and shirts until their muscles warm up, but must have dance clothing on underneath to wear for class.
- Ballet students are to wear pink ballet shoes.
- See your instructor regarding tap & jazz shoe color.
- Long hair must be pulled back from face and off neck. short hair, if possible, should be pulled back from face.
- No large or dangling earrings during class or excessive jewelry.
- All students must write their name on the inside of their shoes, leotards, dance bags, etc.
- The studio is not responsible for any lost articles.
Parent Observation
- In order to view your child’s progress, we welcome you to observe your child’s class once per month. Dates will be determined by instructor.
- Exceptions may be made for working parents and visiting relatives on a per case basis.
- Observers will only be permitted for the last 15 minutes of class.
- Observers must remain quiet while in the classroom.
- Only two observers per student are permitted in the classroom.
Inclement Weather
- Instructor will call you if class is cancelled.
- In most cases, cancellations will be posted on the website’s “News” page.

Holiday Breaks
- Holiday breaks are determined by the instructor.
- All students will be given a schedule of dates when classes are not in session
Costumes
- Students do not have to participate in the recital; however all are encouraged to participate since the focus of the classes are toward the recital performance
- Deposits for costumes will be announced by the instructor
